The Story of

DSVA Solutions

The Calm Behind the Chaos

For over 20 years, I worked in the corporate world as a PA – the calm behind the chaos – the person quietly keeping everything organised and running smoothly.

In 2010, when I had my eldest daughter, my priorities naturally shifted. I reduced my working hours to focus on raising my family, and for a long time, work became about stability rather than fulfilment. It was steady and predictable, but something was missing.

As my girls grew older, I found myself with more flexibility and a growing sense that I wanted more from my career.

Then, in 2022, redundancy hit.

After 18 years with the same organisation, I was suddenly faced with a big question: what now? It was unsettling, emotional, and frightening, but it also became the catalyst for change.

The Turning Point

One thing I knew for certain was that I didn’t want to return to the London commute or start over in another corporate role.

The thought of interviews after so many years, rebuilding trust, and proving myself all over again felt exhausting.

Around that time, a conversation I’d once had with a friend came back to me. She had started her own Virtual Assistant business, and her story had stayed with me. For the first time, I allowed myself to ask: could I do that too?

After plenty of late-night Googling (and more than a few nerves), I talked it through with my husband. His immediate encouragement gave me the push I needed.

That was the moment I decided to back myself, take a leap of faith, and build something of my own.

That’s how DSVA Solutions was born.

Building DSVA Solutions

The early days weren’t easy.

Alongside supporting clients, I had to learn social media, finance, contracts, and the legal side of running a business. Imposter syndrome showed up more than once, telling me I wasn’t cut out for it.

What kept me going was support from my husband, and from a Virtual Assistant networking group that became a lifeline. They reminded me I wasn’t alone and that feeling overwhelmed was part of the process.

In December 2022, everything shifted.

A recommendation from a former manager led to my very first client on a 10-hour retainer. I still remember signing that agreement and dancing around my living room with pure joy.

That client quickly grew to 30 hours, and more followed.

Where I  am Today

Today, I work with an incredible mix of clients across different industries, offering Virtual PA, business admin, and lifestyle support that fits around real life.

I now enjoy the flexibility and balance to be present for my family while doing work I genuinely love. I thrive on meeting new people, learning new skills, and making a meaningful difference behind the scenes.

For me, this work isn’t just about admin.

It’s about giving clients back their time, their headspace, and their calm, knowing everything is handled with integrity, discretion, and care.

My mission is simple:

When someone works with me, I want them to think
“How did I ever manage without Deb in my life?”
